body shop foundation + drops

Now we all know how much I love The Body Shop skin care so it was inevitable that I would love their foundation but more so their revolutionary colour adjusting drops. Let me explain something for anyone that doesn’t have pale skin, the lightest shade of any foundation found at the pharmacy in South Africa is not light enough mostly it seems to be too pink (WHY ALL THE PINK!) or one shade too dark or e.g Loreal Infallible lightest shade here is 11 Vanilla whereas in the UK the lightest shade is 10 Porcelain for this reason the Body Shop new range of shade adjusting drops and fresh nude foundation are perfect!

Let me start with the Fresh Nude Foundation (R275) available in 16 shades from light to dark with a variety of warm and cool tones. This is the first Body Shop foundation I have ever tried and I am so happy I did as its very different to the foundations I usually gravitate to in that its a light to medium coverage with a dewy finish as apposed to a full matt coverage which means the fresh nude foundation is very moisturising, suitable for sensitive skin and dermatologically tested.

Being a Body Shop product you already know that the foundation is bound to contain the best ingredients for your skin, this one is enriched with rose water and aloe vera which means its very hydrating and doesn’t leave your face or pores clogged at all. Even though it is a dewy light foundation I have found that it is buildable, instead of building up the coverage all over my face I like to choose wherever I have a problem area on that day and build that area up with concealer, I then add a light dusting of translucent powder over my T-Zone. It lasts all day without being cakey or becoming super shiny.

Shade Adjusting Drops (R300) I know I have already expressed how much I love these especially the lightening drops but I wanted to explain a little more. I love the explanation on the Body Shop website for the drops  Our Shade Adjusting Drops help turn an almost there shade into the perfect one.”  How true is that! I explained a little bit about the pink tone, oh the dreaded pink in most of the lighter foundations found at the pharmacy thats why the concentration of white and pink pigments in the Lightening Drops neutralises these orangey/pinky tones while lightening. The darkening drops work in the same way with black and red pigments to darken the foundation.

The best part of the drops is that there is no more buying two shades of foundation for winter and summer just add 1/2 a drop and adjust the foundation to match your current tone! The Body Shop also have Drops Of Sun Holiday Glow Creator (R225) which I can’t wait to try, its a transparent gel texture that you can blend into moisturiser or foundation for an instant natural sun kissed tan that washes off and because its the Body Shop of course its enriched with ingredients such as Honey and Vitamin E to condition your skin.

I know the drops may seem a little pricey but they’re so worth it, remember a little (1 drop = 1/2 a shade lighter) goes a long way so you won’t need to repurchase these often.

Have you tried any of these Body Shop products? If so let me know your thoughts?
