Welcome to my copper pipe lights DIY, as most of you will know if you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t you totes should www.instagram.com/carafay_ ) that the beginning of this year has been nothing short of HECTIC! We moved flats and with that came a whole lot of admin and was not the smoothest move of them all. Included in the mix of this has been wedding planning which also hasn’t been so smooth sailing. We are finally settling in and of course no home of mine is one without a little DIY added into the mix. In our old flat I DIY’d our bedside lights but I knew when we got to the new flat I needed to do something that didn’t involve drilling into the walls as they’re a creamy colour that I would never be able to colour match on my own! After hours of Pinterest scrolling I found my copper pipe inspiration and off to Builders Warehouse I went. How to make customised covers for Instagram Highlights

Welcome to a different type of blog post, a new little techy type of post – how to customise cover photos for your Instagram Highlights on your profile: It’s super simple really and you don’t have to some crazy photoshop skills or amazing apps, all you need to do is follow the below steps: Head over to Canva sign up if you aren’t already and then and click on create a design. Click on pinterest graphic Click elements on the left-hand side Click on backgrounds and select a colour or background. You can customise the color by clicking the [+] box. Click on text then click add heading if you like as this will be the first image that shows on your highlight. There are so many fonts to choose from here and you can also customise the colour. Click elements again then click shapes. Here you can search the icons you want to use. Drag the icon to the centre of the post, you will notice a guide appears to show you where the centre is. Easy DIY Tassel Earrings

Welcome to a new DIY… I haven’t felt very inspired to make anything lately that was until I saw the trend of Tassel Earrings – I knew I just had to get my hands stuck right in. I found different versions of DIY Tassel Earrings on Pinterest, narrowed down two designs/styles I liked and off I went to find all the supplies. Things you will need: Embroidery Floss (R7, Sewing Centre CBD) Jump Rings (R5 for a packet, I found a shop in Church St CBD) Earring Hooks (R5 for a packet, same shop on Church St) Pliers (price depends on where and what quality, remember you can always use a multi-tool thingy) The rest is easy…. As you can see DIY Tassel Earrings are super simple to create and cost under R20 a pair! There are obviously ways you can change up the design to these for example I made another pair where I added a larger round gold hoop that I attached the tassel onto. I have always wondered how Travel Bloggers do what they do; do they approach companies with a plan and then together they collaborate? Do they get given freebies and document those experiences or do they simply love sharing the places that they visit? Look I am no travel blogger by genre but if I do have an opportunity to travel best believe it will be documented! DIY Copper and Wood Plant Stand

Today’s DIY post is probably one of my most favourites of all time! Firstly because it involves plants and secondly because I created a gorgeous piece for my home from scratch. I have been wanting a plant stand for so long but I didn’t want to invest in one because I don’t know if it’s more of a fad that I will get over and they’re so expensive! As with all good ideas I headed to Pinterest for some DIY inspiration, I saw so many cool ideas some more complicated than others but when I came across this simple plant stand DIY I just knew that this was what I wanted to create. I started off going through the DIY and what I needed to buy, I then browsed through Builders Warehouse online store and placed an order for the drill and opted to collect this into the store I was going to. I am all about a good DIY, so often I troll through Pinterest looking for simple ideas that I can get crafty with. I kept seeing DIYs that use moldable clay and then realized that Builder’s Warehouse have a craft isle and off I went in hopes I would find moldable clay AND I DID! I was so excited not only because I found the clay it was also a lot more simple than the clay that is mentioned in the Pinterest DIY as that version needs to be baked, the version I found at Builder’s Warehouse drys by itself in the air – no baking needed! After finding the clay I knew I wanted my first try to be ring cone holders similar to these that I saw on Pinterest. The application was really simple and I completed the whole thing in 30 minutes. Is there anything better than creating a mini you? I mean if you’re a SIMs, bitmoji fan then this is right up your street – introducing Mini Me memorable’s the new customizable lego figurines. The idea is that you either custom make yourself, your friend or choose from their already made figurines such as Iron Man and Homer Simpson I jumped at the opportunity to make Mandla and I, it was so much fun choosing the facial expression, hair, clothes and even their accessories. DIY Upcycled Frame Builders Warehouse

Is there anything better than taking a stroll through a flea market and find some good bargains for upcycling? I absolutely love doing this, I often find things that I just know I can turn into something new and different. Today I am going to talk you through a really quick DIY… a slick of chalk paint on a plain wooden frame. All you will need is a paint brush or roller and chalk paint is probably one of my most favourite types of paint, its no muss no fuss can be used to create a white washed/rustic look by just adding some wax in little places. It also has a nice matte finish. Builders Warehouse is the home of all DIY with isles and isles of brushes, hooks, paints and pretty much anything you can think of. DIY Pendant Lights hoi p’loy

I thought I would share with you all one of my latest bedroom DIY’s. Our bedroom isn’t the largest and has ONE built in cupboard so storage is a little issue. I am always looking for ways to maximize space and make the room look as minimal as possible without comprising the need for storage. I picked up these bed side tables for R150 from a second hand furniture seller on facebook. The legs were completely different – they were straight and a bit meh but I saw potentital because I absolutely love the draws. I enlisted the help of a local carpenter to chop off the legs and use the wood to create slanted legs instead, I then painted the outer parts cream and decided to leave the draw in its natural wood form, I absolutely love how they came out. The one thing I struggled with for a long time was lighting, out room has a single pendant light in the centre of the room which happens to be above the bed and of course more to my side so I hate it – its ugly and shines directly into my eyeballs. agh. Slick of paint, revamp {DIY}

I am prone to a good DIY, I have so many ideas and often when I find a piece of furniture and imagine all the ways I can revamp it up this mostly involves in a slick of paint and an updated handle (which by the way you can find the most affordable and gorgeous handles/knobs from Poetry Stores). When we moved into the flat we had to find ways to make the space work for us. It’s a duplex with not much space in the living room. We had our dining room table custom made to fit under the stairs and to fit our 4 farm style chairs. I had painted the chairs previously to look shabby chic and rustic but to be honest they started to look a bit messy and rundown. When Prominent paint got in touch to collaborate I straight away knew I wanted to revamp the chairs.
